The Polygon at St Mary's Church in Ealing was the location for this sell-out event. Nine teams of eight battled it out to be quiz champions in We Run Ealing's first ever funraising event.
The event was a huge success raising much needed funds via entry fees and a raffle to help continue aim to get more people in Ealing physically active. Where possible, we want to make our acitivities free and accessible to all. We can't do this without our generous supporters. Thank you to everyone who came along and donated.

Once again, WE RUN EALING collaborated with Good Gym Ealing to organise Ealing's second annual Food Bank Run. Runners met in Gunnersbury Park after parkrun and ran together, carrying their food bank donations. The run is intended not just to increase donations to the food bank but also to encourage people to support Ealing Food Bank and the great work they do in our community.
February is a difficult month for food banks as they have started to run out of the generous donations they receive around Christmas time. The Food Bank Run initiative was created by runr and you can read more about it here. To find out how to give to Ealing Food Bank click here.

For the second year running, WE RUN EALING organised a running shoe collection at Gunnersbury parkrun. Parkrunners and supporters brought along over 300 pairs of old (and not so old!) running trainers. The collection will be donated directly to JogOn who save old running shoes from landfill by repurposing or recycling them. To find out more about JogOn, click here.
The collection was organised in conjunction with GoodGym Ealing. Thanks to the Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub for providing storage facilities and to Gunnersbury parkrun for facilitating and promoting the collection.
We plan to organise another collection in 2025!

A entirely sold out auditorium at The Ealing Project enjoyed a screening of 'Younger' followed by a Q&A panel. The film follows a group of female atheletes in their 60s, 70s and 80s who are still competing as masters athletes. The women are extraordinary athletes who demonstrate how to age heathily and with a true sense of fun and camaraderie. The film is co-directed by Alex Rotas and Danielle Sellwood of Find It Film.
The Q&A panel discussion that followed featured Danielle, Alex, Paul Farmer from Age UK and WE RUN EALING's Tom Kerry. The audience enjoyed hearing insights from the filmmakers as well as the great work that both charites Age UK and WE RUN EALING to keep people moving as they get older.
A big thank you to WE RUN EALING ambassador Lynne Maughan who brought all the parties together and organised an excellent evening.

At WE RUN EALING we know not everyone loves running, so we are trying to create a range of activities that appeal in different ways to help people get active on their own terms. We’re not about how far or how fast people can run, but giving people good experiences, connecting communities and making running fun and enjoyable. This street art tour of Acton was a perfect example. A guided run around the many amazing murals and art pieces that have popped up, stopping at each one along the way.
Expertly organised by our ambassador Sacha Syed and supported by three our other ambassadors Lynne Maughan, Harvey Gallagher and Symone Williams.
Devised before the recent collection of new Banksy art works to appear across London, the run was therefore able to capitalise on a resurgence of interest in street art, thanks to Banksy. Most particpants were suprised to learn how much street art and murals Acton has to offer.
We are hoping to repeat the Acton Street Art run again. Keep an eye on our social media accounts.

After a successful inaugural event in March 2024, the Queen of the Suburbs Ultra and Trail 25K is returning on Saturday 22 March 2025.
London's greenways and blueways ultra is London's only single borough ultramarathon. The event is named after a long standing name for the area. The London Borough of Ealing is known as the ‘Queen of the Suburbs’ – an area that was easily reached from Central London on public transport but with the feeling of being in or close to the countryside.

The Queen of the Suburbs Ultra is huge success
25 March 2024
On Saturday 23 March, over 250 runners took to Ealing’s greenways and blueways in the inaugural Queen of the Suburbs Ultra. The 50-kilometre ultramarathon was run and walked mostly along trails, footpaths, parks and the towpaths of Ealing and the surrounding area. A shorter 25-kilometre option was also available.
The route started in Gunnersbury Park and took in the sights of Ealing, such as Horsenden Hill, the Northala Fields mounds, Hanwell Viaduct and the Grand Union Canal, finishing at Dickens Yard in Central Ealing. Participants officially completed the course by touching the Smile Monument (also known as the Ealing Rock) at the entrance to Dickens Yard.
Participants came from across London and the southeast, but some came from much further afield such as Jersey and even Washington D.C in the USA! Many of the entrants were from Ealing including Jay Kaye, a member of the Ealing Eagles Running Club who was taking part in his first ever ultramarathon. “It was a lovely trail route through parts of Ealing I had never previously explored, the route was clearly marked and easy to navigate throughout,” he said. “The Queen of the Suburbs Ultra was a great adventure and the perfect way to experience my first ultramarathon.”
Tasha Thompson, founder of running community Black Girls Do Run said, “If all running events were placed onto a crown, The Queen of the Suburbs Ultra was the missing jewel.” Tasha volunteered at the registration desk early in the morning before taking part in the 25k run. “It was well thought out, well organised, and a joy to be a volunteer and a participant,” she added.
The event was organised by local running charity We Run Ealing, the community arm of the award-winning Ealing Half Marathon. Ealing’s Running Mayor Tom Kerry commented, “After four years in the making we were delighted to be able to deliver our first Queen of the Suburbs Ultra. Thanks to the runners, volunteers and all those who helped make it such a great success. The greenways and blueways of Ealing were a perfect canvas for the event and all the on-the-day smiles were inspirational. We’ll continue to create and deliver more running opportunities for our community, and we hope to be back with a second edition, so watch this space!”
Over 60 volunteers supported the event undertaking roles such as registering participants at the start, managing checkpoints and aid stations and handing out medals at the finish. Volunteers were also responsible for marking out the entire route with pink ribbons the day before to help the participants navigate their way around the course. The ribbons were removed by volunteers after the runners passed through the route, but their short appearance did become a talking point on local forums and social media. If you didn’t know what they were for, now you do!
Local organisations and businesses also provided support to the event by providing locations for checkpoint and aid stations, plus start and finish venues. The organisers, We Run Ealing, would like to thank Gunnersbury Park, Dickens Yard and Food Market, The Fox Pub Hanwell, Friends of Horsenden Hill and Ealing Council. Appreciation is also enthusiastically extended to a number of local running groups and communities for their support, in particular Ealing Eagles Running Club, Ealing Southall & Middlesex Athletics Club, Nepal Run and Black Girls Do Run.
Any leftover food and drink from the aid stations and finish will be donated to Ealing Food Bank.
To register interest for next year’s event please visit the Queen of the Suburbs Ultra website.

WE RUN EALING were delighted to welcome our friends from Camino Ultra to enjoy some of the green spaces of Ealing as part of their Camino Eco Trail Challenge. Joined by some Ealing locals, we ran through the Brent River Valley and up Horsenden Hill.
Sadly, we didn't spot any beavers but everyone had a great time and we enjoyed showing our visitors some lovely parts of Ealing borough.

WE RUN EALING has worked closely with Hampshire trail-running community organisation, Blended Trails to bring it's successful concept to Ealing. With its semi-urban setting, Ealing is often called the 'Queen of the Suburbs' due to it's large proportion of green spaces, perfect for some 'off-road' trail running.
A pop-up trail course is marked out for nine days, with maps available to download online, and a led Guided Social Run takes place on the first Sunday of the pop-up. The idea is to encourage runners to explore paths and trails they might not have previously known in the local area.
WE RUN EALING plans to launch a number of Blended Trail routes over the coming year. Find out more here.
